SUMMER CAMPS

(Ages 3-10)

The long days of summer can lead to a slow slide of academic skills. Cranium Camps are your cure for summer ‘brain drain,’ offering the perfect combination of learning and fun to strengthen young minds and bodies for the coming school year!

SUMMER CAMP DESCRIPTIONS:

Ocean Explorers JUNE 13 – 17, 2016

What is life like in the wondrous ocean? Do fish breathe under water? How far do whales migrate and why? Your child will uncover the answers to these mysteries and more as they explore what life is like in the majestic seas. Cranium campers will dive into the discoveries of famous oceanographers from the past. They will deepen reading and math skills as they journey through each layer of the ocean, learning about unique habitats and amazing creatures, and creating sea-inspired artwork along the way. Your child will be submersed in both education and fun while exploring the endless wonders of the ocean blue!

Junior Paleontologist JUNE 20-24, 2016

Your young scientist will become a Cranium Paleontologist, discovering prehistoric times and exploring the world of dinosaurs! Campers will enjoy learning about carnivores, herbivores, omnivores, and prehistoric history. Young researchers will discover dinosaur eggs and other cool aspects about dinosaurs, while experimenting with charts, graphs and scientific theories. What was it like when dinosaurs roamed? Junior paleontologists will study their favorite dinosaurs through reading, math, art, and virtual journeys back in time. Whether creating their own fossils or practicing their dino-digging skills at our very own Cranium Excavation site, campers are sure to have a dino-mite time!

Road Trip JUNE 27 – JULY 1, 2016

Get ready to embark on the road trip of a lifetime! From Florida to Alaska, campers will plan an exciting adventure across the country. Whether recreating the Space Needle out of coffee beans in Seattle, or discovering dogsled races and the Northern Lights in Alaska, young travelers will discover famous landmarks and customs along the way. Campers will create their own travel bags and learn about compasses, maps and other essentials that they will need to pack for their journey. They will even become junior travel writers, making travel guides full of fun facts and points of interest for future travelers. No need to pack up the car this summer. Join us as we navigate our way through this one-of-a-kind road trip adventure!

Mad Scientist: It’s All Around Us JULY 5 – 8, 2016 *NOTE: CLOSED MONDAY JULY 4TH

Who uses science every day? Everyone! From chefs to astronauts, artists to sailors, and even moms and dads, science is all around us! Campers will discover how different people use science to do their jobs well. Children will become young scientists, performing exciting experiments throughout the week. They will become astronauts, exploring space travel and experimenting with gravity as they launch air rockets. They will pretend to be chefs watching chemical reactions as they make bread, freeze their own ice cream, and conduct their very own taste tests. They will become artists mixing colors to find the perfect hue. How do parents use science? Campers will learn the answers to this and more while discovering the wonders of science all around us!

NOTE: Because the 4th of July falls on a Monday, this is the only 4 day camp during the summer. Cost of this camp is 80% the cost of the other camps. We still pack 5 days of activities in, so children will have plenty of “Mad Scientist” type fun!

All About the Games JULY 11 – 15, 2016

What does it take to get to the Olympic Games? Campers will prepare for fun, friendly competition in our very own Cranium Games! Young Olympians will discover how athletes from across the globe come together to represent their country with pride. They will create Olympic flags and pass the Olympic Torch in our Opening and Closing Ceremonies. They will travel to places where the Olympics have been held to learn about winter and summer sports. Campers will participate in a series of games and activities, discovering the importance of playing fair. Each member of the Cranium team will be challenged to become the best that they can be, as they learn and play in the true Olympic spirit!

Animal Kingdom JULY 18 – 22, 2016

Exotic animals and exciting adventures await! Campers will travel to the rainforest, the desert, the Arctic, and the depths of the ocean to study the animals that live there and why it is important to protect them. What animals live in ponds and lakes? How do animals survive in the desert? Young explorers will roam with wild animals on a safari, and learn how animals adapt to life in the frigid Arctic. They will use reading and math skills to help identify mammals, birds, insects, fish, reptiles, and amphibians throughout the animal world. They will discover different habitats and migratory patterns, as they research and report on their favorite animals. Join us for this wildly fun and educational journey through the awesome animal kingdom!

Back to Nature JULY 25 – 29, 2016

Pack your gear and get ready for adventure! Campers will set out on an imaginative journey to national parks across the country, discovering amazing wildlife and land formations that make each park unique. Children become young adventurers hiking through the Grand Canyon, discovering volcanoes in Hawaii and geysers at Yellowstone National Park. They will explore different habitats, and the animals and plants that live there. How would camping in Alaska be different? Campers will create a travel journal with maps of the regions, as well as graphs and charts comparing habitats and animals. They will make s’mores by a campfire, and go on an outdoor scavenger hunt in search of items they can use to create their own nature inspired artwork. Children will learn to appreciate the great outdoors in this thrilling journey back to nature!

Own Your Own Restaurant AUGUST 1 – 5, 2016

What should you know before starting your own restaurant? What type of food will you serve? Who will you hire? Campers will become young entrepreneurs, working together to help make important decisions for their business. Children learn to use market surveys, along with their critical thinking, reading and math skills to come up with their own concepts and ideas. From chefs to waiters, they will role play various members of their team. They will even design their own menu including descriptions and prices. From preparing a bill and making change, to tasting recipes and creating a grand opening commercial, campers learn what it takes to open their very own restaurant!

Adventure to the Moon and Back AUGUST 8 – 12, 2016

Cranium campers will train to be astronauts as they launch into an out-of-this-world adventure to the moon! They will embark on virtual journeys through our solar system, experimenting with space technology and discovering what life is really like in outer space. Why would we want to travel to space? How does gravity work? Campers will prepare for lift off through various reading, math, art and physical missions in space exploration. Whether experiencing weightlessness, investigating the phases of the moon, hunting for asteroids, creating a moon command post, or comparing how far they can jump on the moon versus Earth, campers will have a blast on this adventure to the moon and back!

Art Explosion (DaVinci’s Apprentice) AUGUST 15 – 19, 2016

Cranium campers will set out on a colorful journey to become DaVinci’s apprentice! Through imaginative virtual adventures and creative hands-on exploration, campers will discover how color, composition and contrast effect how someone feels about art. What is inspiration? Children become young art apprentices, exploring how artists learn their skills and what influences their work. They will learn about DaVinci and other famous artists, perhaps choose a favorite, and then try to express how their work inspires them. Campers will use various art mediums and techniques to create original works of art for their very own art portfolios. Young artists will learn to appreciate art as a form of expression while imaginations soar in this exciting art explosion!

Enrollment Fee: $ 20 per child (One time per calendar year).

The week of the July 4th holiday is the only 4-day camp during the summer. Cost of this camp will be 80% of the cost of other camps (call us if you need help figuring out pricing). Campers will still get 5 days of activities and fun packed into this 4-day camp!
Prices include 2 snacks with extended and full day camps, 1 morning snack for half day camps. Snacks (drink included) can vary per day and typically include one of the following: CheezIt’s, pretzels, animal crackers, oatmeal cookies, mini-carrots, or graham crackers. Children may bring a snack from home if preferred. For extended and full day camps, lunch is available for an additional fee (See Lunch Options below).
Multiple siblings = 10% discount

LUNCH OPTIONS (All half day or extended day camps)

Our half day camps include 1 morning snack. For kids staying half day or extended day camp hours, both a morning and afternoon snack is included and lunch options include:

Pack Lunch: Parent or guardian can provide a packed lunch and boxed drink. Packed lunches should be placed in an insulated lunch bag to ensure freshness.
Purchase Lunch (Spring & Summer Camps Only): For all extended and full day camp kids, lunch can be purchased for $ 20 per week OR $ 4 per day if ordered at least one day in advance OR $ 5 per day if ordered same day by 10 am. Lunch options available for purchase vary by location.

There are 4 easy ways to sign your children up for our summer camps and holiday camps:

Come to our facility (See Locations) to complete your enrollment form and register today.
Print the enrollment form for your desired location (Winter Garden pdf enrollment form, East Orlando pdf enrollment form) and fax, scan/email, mail or bring to that location (See Locations for contact information).
Send us an email including the name(s) and date(s) of birth of your child/children and which camp(s) you are interested in. We will send you an email back with a partially filled out enrollment form (pdf attachment – we will figure out the total cost for you) that you can fax, scan/email, mail or bring to your closest location.
Call or email us (See Locations for contact information) and we can send you a summer camp packet via regular mail.

OTHER SUMMER CAMP INFORMATION:

No breakfast option. All campers should eat something at home, before the camp day begins.
Children that are being potty trained will not be able to participate in full day Cranium Camps, but should be able to participate in all half day camps.
If your child still takes a nap and will be attending the full day camps, please let the staff know. Your child will have the opportunity to go into the quiet room to rest after lunch if needed.
If a camp is filled to capacity, please call to be put on a waiting list. There is a possibility we will staff appropriately to allow for more kids to enroll.
Additional Terms & Discounts: Discounts are built into pricing above. Multiple siblings or OCPS teachers = 10 % additional off all tuition options listed above. Total price of all camps is due upon signing unless special arrangements are made.
For all summer camps, we will test each student who is going into kindergarten or already in elementary school on their reading and math skills and utilize the results to produce a custom prescription. This prescription is integrated into key interactive platforms, allowing each child to work on specific reading and math skills that will enhance their current knowledge and skills. Our 3 – 4 year old students will not be tested, but will have leveled reading and math curriculum based on their age and abilities.
The core reading and math curriculum meets grade level equivalency skills and correlates to the National Common Core Standards.
Each year, summer camps will be listed by mid-January. The camps run in 2-3 year cycles, featuring some new activities and events each time. In addition, the reading and math skills will be completely different as they are based off of each child’s current skill level.
CANCELLATION POLICY: What if my child is unable to attend a week of camp that we have already paid for? If you know your child will not be attending camp on or before 30 calendar days before the child’s first camp, parents can send a written notification to cancel camp enrollment and receive a refund less ten percent (10%) of the tuition fee (no refunds of registration fee). Within 30 days before the start of camp, there will be the potential of the above refund if we are able to fill your child’s spot (no refund if the spot is not filled). Please speak with the office staff about extenuating circumstances and the possibility of moving your child to another week of camp (if available).

Fall Harvest Celebration Mini-Camp NOVEMBER 21-23, 2016 – Available at Winter Garden and East Orlando Locations

Children can celebrate the season at our Fall Harvest Festival! Cranium campers will create delightful treats and crafts, plus enjoy fun learning activities that capture the elements of the season. We will learn about ‘The First Thanksgiving,’ and have tons of action-packed fun in the indoor gym, inflatables, and outdoor playground.

Holidays Around the World Celebration Camp DECEMBER 19-23, 2016 – Available at Winter Garden and East Orlando Locations

Campers journey on a world-wide adventure to discover holidays celebrated by children in other nations and cultures! They become part of the global traditions while exploring various Kwanzaa, Christmas, and Hanukkah customs. We will celebrate holidays around the world with hours of fun-filled activities along with tons of active play in the CraniumGYM, inflatables and outdoor playground.

Individual Day Option: $50 per day (With option to drop-off any time after 7 am; Pick-up any time before 6 pm)
HALF DAY ($150 per week): Drop-off 8:30-9 am; Pick-up 12-12:30 pm

New Year Celebration Camp DECEMBER 27-30, 2016 – Available at East Orlando Location ONLY

Ring in the New Year with tons of festive fun! Campers have a musical blast while celebrating together with friends. Join us for our craft and dance party in retro garb, making your own music video, and singing karaoke to the latest tunes. Children will be moving and grooving through various activities and loads of action-packed fun in our indoor gym, inflatables and outdoor playground.

SAVE the Earth – Spring Break Camp MARCH 2017 – Available at Winter Garden and East Orlando Locations

This spring, Cranium campers will have a blast learning how to reduce, reuse and recycle as they begin their quest to save the planet! Each day, children will take on special projects that will introduce them to recycling activities that include creating art using reclaimed items. Interactive games on the learning station will allow children to use their math, reading and critical thinking skills to discover the impact that we each have on our planet. Whether using their energy on a recycling relay through our inflatables or indoor gym, or exploring renewable resources in our outdoor playground, campers will love going green on their mission to save our planet!
